Bruno Fernandes is racking up big numbers already for United this season

After a couple of quiet games, Bruno Fernandes stepped up at Everton with the type of performance which says he should never be dropped.

Even in a mini-slump, Fernandes is capable of changing games and pulling moments of magic out.

The Portuguese star scored two goals and provided the assist for United’s third in the 3-1 win at Goodison Park.

You can’t keep a top player down for very long. The numbers highlight how important he is for United.

Goals and assists galore

Fernandes is now up to six goals this season for Manchester United in all competitions.

The only United player to outscore him so far is Marcus Rashford who has seven goals to date.

Fernandes is United’s assist leader too. He has five already. Rashford is closest with three.

With six goals and five assists so far, Fernandes has 11 goal contributions from 11 games.

This is an outstanding return from any player, and him reaching double figures for each of goals and assists this season already appears to be a foregone conclusion.

At this rate, its possible Fernandes approaches 20 goals and 20 assists over the course of the season, which would be quite an outrageous return.

Fernandes is not reliant on penalties either. His goals are split 50-50, with three from the spot and three from open play.

He could easily have had a hat-trick at the weekend too. United were denied what looked to be a clear cut penalty for a foul on Harry Maguire.

It has been a while since United had a regular goalscorer from midfield. Fernandes is effortlessly compiling big numbers.

Last season he scored 12 goals and provided eight assists from 20 appearances. He is on track to overtake these numbers by the end of 2020.
