Bruno Fernandes and co send messages as United go top of the Premier League

Manchester United are top of the Premier League after a win over Burnley.

A 1-0 victory at Turf Moor puts United three points clear of Liverpool heading into Sunday’s match.

United can go six points ahead with a victory at Anfield. Whatever happens in Sunday’s match, we remain in a strong position and in the midst of a title fight.

There is a long way to go of course, but United can enjoy this moment. The players certainly are.

Bruno Fernandes and David de Gea were among the players to send messages on social media after the victory.

Fernandes urged his teammates to keep pushing, while celebrating the importance of the win.

There are still 21 games to go in the league this season plus cup competitions, but United are at this point, the most consistent team in the top flight.

Liverpool have taken a step back this year in terms of their consistency and United have taken advantage.

Last night’s away win was the type you have to grind out in title winning seasons.

If the media refuse to acknowledge United as serious contenders, that’s fine. It will only fuel the fire.

United have waited a long time to be in a title race again and are now here without pressure. That can work in our favour. The players are beginning to believe and are looking confident.

Let’s see what happens this weekend, but we should all be pleased with the progress being made.
