Alexis Sanchez is hoping to make a surprise comeback for Manchester United against Barcelona.

United’s official website states Sanchez is hoping to be fit for the second leg in the Nou Camp.

United host Barcelona on April 10. The second leg is on April 16.

Sanchez’s return had provisionally been targeted for United’s game away to Everton on April 21.

Big game player

Sanchez’s bright moments for United have come in high profile matches.

His best games have come in wins against City, Tottenham and Arsenal.

He is used to playing in the Nou Camp and will be up for facing his former club.

The club website states Sanchez will ‘be busting a gut’ to make his comeback.

All of United’s attackers are carrying injuries and the team will need him back to contribute.

What’s next for Sanchez?

Sanchez is United’s highest earner and his performances so far have not matched up to his salary.

Helping United get past Barcelona would go some way to repaying United back.

It makes sense for United to sell Sanchez this summer to decrease the wage bill and invest in younger players.

Even strong performances against Barcelona might not help save his career at Old Trafford.

They will simply turn him into a more saleable asset.
