Manchester United media watch: Absurd Di Maria claim; Rashford's unfair criticism

Another day, another bout of daft headlines regarding Manchester United.
The Express is continuing its recent habit of annoying fans with misleading headlines by claiming United are leading the race for Angel Di Maria.
Read a little further and it is actually Coral making Old Trafford his most likely destination. But the Argentine is never going to return as a Red Devil.
The Express has taken a Mirror report that does not mention United, added some bookies’ odds, and created a story with no substance.
Di Maria’s time at United was overshadowed by an attempted violent burglary at his Cheshire home (BBC) and he was not the same player after that incident.
He has returned to form since leaving England for Paris Saint-Germain. But that incident, along with his disappointing spell at United, means a deal is not going to happen.

Even for free, Di Maria is a risk Jose Mourinho cannot afford to take.  He is already paying big money to one under-performing wide man in Alexis Sanchez.
United do need more width, but Di Maria is not the answer at this stage of his career.  But hey, it gets the Express a few more clicks.
Talking of ridiculous claims, Paul Merson thinks Marcus Rashford is not a natural goal-scorer.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the former player said the United star was not a gifted finisher.  This despite Rashford scoring two goals on his debut for United, two more against Arsenal three days later, and 33 in total despite being only 20.
Merson’s comments look even sillier with the United player scoring for England against Spain last night.
