Andreas Pereira is getting criticism after Instagram post

Andreas Pereira is one of Manchester United’s most positive players on social media.
Even when he was not in the squad, he was posting encouraging messages and cheering on the team.
This time Pereira might have struck the wrong note with his message ahead of next week’s Barcelona tie.
Pereira posted a message suggesting Manchester United are looking forward to raising their game against the La Liga champions.

Wrong message

After losing to Wolves, you can sort of see what Pereira is intending. He is trying to reassure fans that United will bounce back and beat Barcelona.
The problem is its worded poorly and makes it seem like United are a small club, and aren’t interested in playing their best against the not so big teams.

Here is a look at some of the replies to Pereira’s Instagram post.

toemoe86: The Man Utd spirit is to rise against all clubs big n small as they will all rise to play against us! Your miles away!
alamchr: How about you show your character against the so called smaller clubs?!
stephensz84: This kind of mentality why we are where we are in the league, everything we used to slag Liverpool over, gutter mentality
beano_11: Every single game is a big game at this club
chaddy_81: Maybe try it against all clubs!
elli_bzy: Nonsense comment! Delete it and come back with another one

Bit part role

Pereira was one of Manchester United’s heroes in Paris, starting the game in midfield.
Since then he has not been picked to start once, with Paul Pogba starting each game in his place after missing the PSG game with suspension.

To be fair to Pereira, he couldn’t have done much worse than Pogba in these matches, and can’t take too much blame for United’s recent struggles.
United fans are rightfully frustrated after losing twice to Wolves in a month, crashing out of the FA Cup and sustaining a serious blow to our top four bid.
Pereira has made good progress this year, but comments like this don’t help his case when the fanbase is so frustrated right now.
