United in Focus takes a look at how the players that left Manchester United last summer have fared this season.
Sergio Romero

The Argentine stopper left Manchester United as a free agent last summer after not featuring at all during the 2020-21 campaign.
Romero joined Serie A side Venezia on a free transfer in October, but the 35-year-old couldn’t prevent the Pier Luigi Penzo side from being relegated to Serie B.
Romero, who is currently out injured with a knee injury, made 16 appearances this season but his contract expires at the end of next month.
Joel Pereira

The former Portugal Under-21 international, who made three first-team appearances for Manchester United, joined Eredivisie side RKC Waalwijk as a free agent last summer.
But after starting the first two league games of the season, the 25-year-old missed a large chunk of the season through injury and hasn’t played since.

Dan James

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spent £15m to sign the Welshman from Swansea City in the same summer that Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka arrived at the club.
The speedy winger played 74 games for the Red Devils, but when Cristiano Ronaldo returned to United, James was sold to rivals Leeds United for £25m.
Despite enduring a difficult season for the Whites, James made 31 Premier League starts, scoring four goals and providing five assists.
The Elland Road side maintained their top-flight status on the final day of the season.
Aliou Traore

The 21-year-old Frenchman joined Italian giants Parma as a free agent in September, but he has only made two appearances for the Serie B side this season.
Traore, who has only played 38 minutes of football this campaign, will be hoping for a change of fortunes next season.
Dillon Hoogewerf

A bonus on the list. The Dutchman left Manchester United for Borussia Monchengladbach on the final day of the January transfer window.
The 19-year-old, who scored 21 goals for the United academy sides, has one goal from six games for Gladbach’s under-19s side.
Jacob Carney

The young goalkeeper joined Sunderland on a free transfer last summer after making eight appearances for the Manchester United academy sides.
After a loan spell with Portadown last season, Carney, 21, made 20 appearances for the Black Cats in Premier League 2 this season, conceding 37 goals.
Mark Helm

The Warrington-born midfielder has made 25 appearances for the Clarets’ Premier League 2 side this season after joining Burnley on a free transfer last summer.
The 20-year-old, who will be hoping to push for first team minutes next season, may be looking to impress Vincent Kompany, who has been linked with the Turf Moor vacancy.
Max Taylor

Taylor has already overcome serious adversity in his career so far, surviving a spell out of the game after being diagnosed with cancer.
Following his release from the Red Devils last summer, the centre-back joined League Two side Rochdale and he made 29 appearances in his first season at Spotland, scoring three goals.
Charlie McCann

The Northern Ireland Under-21 international signed for Glasgow giants Rangers last summer in a quest to secure first-team football.
The talented midfielder has made four appearances under Giovanni van Bronckhorst for the Europa League finalists.
Arnau Puigmal

Reunited with former Manchester United academy star Largie Ramazani, Puigmal is flourishing back in his homeland.
The pair sealed promotion to La Liga with Almeria and the midfielder’s brave decision to leave the Reds looks to be paying dividends.
Oliver Kilner

The 18-year-old right-back joined Oldham Athletic on a free transfer last summer and spent a month on loan at Curzon Ashton earlier this season.
Johan Guadagno

The Milan-born goalkeeper who has Swedish citizenship joined Denmark giants FC Copenhagen last summer.
The 19-year-old is yet to make his first team debut, but he was on the bench for every Conference League game.
