Anthony Martial scored his 50th goal for Manchester United this week.

It was a milestone which took far too long to arrive, considering he signed in 2015.

He could have got their a lot quicker had he been played as a central striker for his entire United career.

Nonetheless he is back there now, wearing the number nine shirt again, and looks to have rediscovered his goalscoring touch.

Here is a look back at Martial’s top five United strikes…

Vs Liverpool, 2015, Old Trafford

Where else can you start but here?

This was the moment Anthony Martial introduced himself to Manchester United fans.

He came off the bench for his debut to cheers at Old Trafford, and instantly turned the crowd into a cauldron of noise.

His jinking run left defender Martin Skrtel twisted inside out, before he calmly passed the ball into the net. It was ruthless.

The goal was an iconic moment and is one of United’s best memories in recent years.

Vs Southampton, 2015, St Mary’s

Shortly after his debut, Martial impressed again by scoring a brace in an away win over Southampton.

His quick feet embarrassed centre-back Virgil van Dijk, and the video is still shared on social media regularly to this day.

With one touch, Martial span one way, taking the defender out of the game entirely, before swiping the ball into the net with his other foot.

Vs Everton, 2016, Wembley

This was peak Martial, the goal which sealed United’s place in the 2016 FA Cup final.

With the game tied and heading for extra-time, Martial was put through on goal amid a lapse in concentration in the Everton defence.

He made no mistake, showing he has the temperament and composure for the big occasion.

This goal makes the list partly for its importance and the wild celebrations that followed.

Vs Tottenham, 2017, Old Trafford

One of Martial’s most underrated strikes, this was another instance of the Frenchman’s killer instinct.

A long ball was flicked on by Romelu Lukaku, before Martial ran onto it and fired it past Hugo Lloris with his first touch.

It was a goal which gave United a 1-0 win at Old Trafford, and for that season, helped re-establish the team as a superior side to the London club.

Vs Chelsea, 2018, Stamford Bridge

Martial netted a brace against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last season in a 2-2 draw and both goals were contenders for this list.

It was his first of the game which gets our pick.

A fast cross was fizzed into a crowded penalty area, which Martial controlled on his knee, and then volleyed into the bottom corner.

He showed incredible composure and technique, and this was an example of why Martial needs to be inside the box, not out wide.
