Striker Manni Norkett scored twice as Manchester United’s Under-18 side thumped their Blackburn Rovers counterparts 6-1.

James Nolan, Adam Berry, Ethan Williams and Maxi Oyedele got the other goals on an afternoon where the 17-year-old grabbed top billing.

The starting 11 was: Hanbury; Lawrence, Aljofree (c), Jackson, Nolan; Oyedele, Mainoo; Williams, Berry, Mather; Norkett.

On the substitutes bench were: Myles, Harrison, Wheatley, McAllister.

Nolan finished off an excellent team move from United to give the Red Devils the lead with just a couple of minutes of the game gone.

Norkett then doubled United’s lead as we went in 2-0 ahead at half-time. Kobbie Mainoo played a part in that goal as well as United’s third, laying on Norkett to make it three.

Berry made the most of a goalkeeping error for 4-0 before Williams and Oyedele put even more gloss on the result.

United’s Under 21 side also played against Blackburn and it is fair to say that match did not go as well for United.

Their XI was: Mastny, Jurado, Fredricson, Bennett, Murray, Savage, Gore (c), Forson, Hansen, Shoretire, McNeill.

The subs were: Wooster, Kingdon, Collyer, Huddlestone.

But United were 5-1 down by half-time with Shola Shortire’s goal the only bright spot on an otherwise hugely disappointing afternoon.

It was 6-1 by full-time, with the U21s losing by the exact same scoreline as the Under-18s won against the exact same opposition.
