Manchester United’s U18 side were back in action on Saturday, away from home to Nottingham Forest.
After a strong campaign to date, Darren Fletcher would have expected more of the same from his team; however, Nottingham Forest had alternative ideas.
Forest took the lead inside 35 minutes through Faud Smith. But Manchester United then struck back in the 49th minute with Godwill Kukonki heading home to equalise, with Jim Thwaites providing the assist.
United were only level for four minutes, with Forest regaining their advantage through Isaac Davies in the 53rd minute.
After this goal, United then searched for a winner but were unable to find it as Forest held on to claim three points.

Jim Thwaites continues to shine for Manchester United U18
It was far from the result United would have wanted, handing a real advantage to Manchester City in the title race, but the performances of Thwaites remain positive.
Thwaites is considered one of the best talents at United, and his assist here sees him continue to impress, running the show in central midfield.
Thwaites has qualities nobody else at United does, being almost the perfect mix of Paul Scholes and David Beckham, which suggests he will be a special footballer.
United’s U18 side is a very young one this season, meaning the results aren’t going to be perfect as they learn, but Thwaites continues to be ready for a step up.
