Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that the club are in talks to bring Zlatan Ibrahimovic back to the club.
Ibrahimovic was a huge success last season after arriving on a free transfer from Paris, before an injury late in the season ruled him out of the Europa League Final.
Having signed on a one-year deal, the Swede was subsequently released in the summer as United were not prepared to continue paying a hefty salary to a player they couldn’t use; however, there was always the suggestion that he would sign a short term deal once he proved his fitness, and the United manager confirmed that there have been conversations.
“You know he’s injured, he needs time to recover, he’s not ready to play tomorrow,” Mourinho said. “It’s not something urgent, that we are desperate to have it done or not done. I just think that he was very clear by showing what he did last year was not enough for him. He thinks he can do more and wants more at the highest level. So we are having conversations and we are discussing the possibility of him to stay with us for the second part of the season.”
United kick off their League season on Sunday against West Ham United.
