Mourinho: “I Will Fight With Other Coaches For Bale”

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says he will be ‘waiting to fight with other coaches’ if Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale is made available for transfer.

United have been linked with a move for the Welshman after the breakdown of the transfer for Ivan Perisic of Inter Milan and Madrid are apparently open to selling in order to raise funds, although it was said over the weekend that Bale had been given reassurances that he would not be sold.

Ahead of the European Super Cup clash between the clubs tomorrow, Mourinho was asked about Bale and said “If he’s not in the club’s plans, I will be waiting to fight with other coaches that would want him on their team”, adding, “But if he plays tomorrow, that’s the best confirmation that he’s wanted by the team. If not, then we’ll be waiting for him on the other side.”

It seems unlikely that the transfer will happen but Mourinho is keen to sign a winger, with that specialist area the last he has yet to strengthen this summer.
