Remember last week when we used the Gabriel Heinze story from 2007 to describe going from Skegness to Liverpool? That’s a little bit how we feel this morning seeing United linked to Renato Sanches as a midfield target ahead of Nemanja Matic.
However when we did a little bit of digging we were rather disappointed. It stems from Four Four Two’s report which quoted (sigh) Tuttomercatoweb.
“He won’t get enough minutes at Bayern, so we’re willing to negotiate a loan deal and maybe beyond that,” Rummenigge said via Tuttomercatoweb.
“I’m not the coach, but I think Renato needs regular football. I can confirm Milan’s interest, but talks didn’t progress last week.
“If a club are interested in a Bayern player, they must be ready to deal with significant economic figures and I don’t feel that Milan are ready to meet our demands.
“We’ll say that it wouldn’t be bad if a €48m offer came in for him…”
… The Independent have taken that story and suggested that Ancelotti said the player could come to United.
“At this time, he’s training with us. We have to make a decision. A move could be a possibility but there is also a chance he could stay with us for the season.”
…Sanches perhaps does not have the discipline of a Matic but he does play with that combative edge United fans love to see in their midfielders.
That’s the only news doing the rounds including United today, and even that is tenuous, file this under ‘we’d like this to happen and it makes sense so it probably won’t’.
